Mary Lou started her career in the management training program for Macy’s department stores. She worked in the stores and in the buying offices ending up as a Team Buyer in housewares for all the divisions of the company. She moved to Birmingham to be part of the product development team for Sax Department stores. She used her retail knowledge to source product overseas. Once the company was bought out, she stayed in Birmingham and looked for new opportunities.

She discovered balloons and fell in love. However, retails was in her blood. She looked for ways to funnel the creative outlet of balloon and get back to retail environment. Booth Sales were the way to get back. In 2013, she took the plunge and opened her retail store Lou Lou’s in Hoover, AL selling women’s boutique clothing. The store is a customer favorite and has been voted Best in Birminghan and Best of Hoover. Mary Lou’s success comes from identifying opportunities and the willingness to change with trends. The store is currently under expansion and looks forward to seeing what the next thin in store is for Lou Lou’s.
