As we prepare for Balloon Boss Summit in Orlando this November, we’re introducing you to our fabulous team of instructors. This is the third our series. (If you missed our other posts, you can meet Misti Kauffman HERE or Scott Delorenzo HERE). This week, we spotlight Kelli Mankowski of Party World!
We asked Kelli a few questions so that you can get to know her better.
Q: Tell us about you/your business and where you are located?
A: I’m Kelli Mankowski, Owner and President of Party World. I have owned Party World for 18 years. I am a scuba diving instructor, a Piyo Fitness Instructor, and the business manager of the Lakes Area Yoga Association.
My husband and I were high school sweethearts that broke up just after high school and re-met 18 years later. We have been married for 17 years. Between the two of us, we have three boys Adam (30, Alex 31, and the other Adam 33). We also have two cats named Goat and Bunny.
We live in Fort Ripley, MN on the Mississippi River, in the middle of the woods, in the dead center of Minnesota. My store is located in Brainerd/Baxter which is 15 miles from my home. Party World is a rental and retail store/warehouse.
Q: Who are your favorite clients?
A: Anyone who walks in my store and says, “oh my God I LOVE your store!”
Q: How long have you been in the balloon business?
A: From 2004-2009 we were “balloons on a ribbon” only. In 2009 got my CBA and expanded from there.
Q: What is your top “skill” or “signature” design/service?
A: I don’t know if it’s necessarily a top “skill” but our best seller is what we call “Table Toppers” which is the basic 2 sets of quads with a foil on top and a couple curls on each side – so versatile!
Q: What is your favorite balloon color combo, color and brand?
A: Robin’s Egg Blue, Yellow, Lime, Orange and Wild Berry (luau colors!) by Qualatex.
Q: What is the biggest lesson learned as a balloon business owner?
A: Other than “people are crazy” I’d say my next biggest lesson learned is that having systems within your business, that everyone follows, will be the most beneficial thing you can do for yourself!

A: FLOAT!

A: Promotions and Profits in 2019
Q: What are you most excited for at Balloon Boss Summit 2022?
A: Being able to immerse myself is all things balloons!
